Things I am grateful for

Things I am grateful for

In the face of current world events, it is sometimes very difficult to keep a positive attitude towards our future. Additionally, our competitive society does its best to knock down our self-esteem by showing us how we should look and feel, what kind of clothes and make-up we should wear, and what kind of cars and electronic devices we should own. Considering this stressful context, it is very easy to feel overwhelmed nowadays. That is why it is all the more important to focus on the positive things we have in our life!

My lovely blogger friend Cheila inspired me to write a list of things I am grateful for. I already knew that reflecting on positive things has a therapeutic effect, so I just wanted to try it out. Immediately after writing the first couple of bullet points, more and more little things that make my life wonderful sprang to my mind – which made me really happy! The more you think about it, the more you will see that you already have everything you need to be happy. I would definitely recommend doing this! So, here is my list:

Things I am grateful for

  • my family, who always supports me
  • my boyfriend, who is also the best friend I could ever ask for
  • the ability to enjoy the small things that make life wonderful
  • my friends – some are near, some are far, but I know I can count on all of them
  • my two grey tabby cats – one thin and sleepy and the other chubby and energetic
  • our house and the beautiful garden that surrounds it
  • my childhood – I grew up very protected, always outside and with a close circle of friends
  • my creativity
  • I recently rediscovered my love for art – and a huge and wonderful creative community online
  • the fact that we live near Heidelberg, Germany – one of the most beautiful cities I know
  • I was born to a German mother and a Portuguese father – next to dual citizenship, having access to two different cultures is very enriching and keeps your mind open
  • I’m healthy and able to exercise on a regular basis
  • I have a car that takes me anywhere I want
  • I have a job that pays enough for me to live comfortably
  • I am able to go on holidays and see the world

I love this post. I’m happy that you have so many good things going on in your life. It certainly put things in perspective. You are very fortunate! Thank you for mentioning me, I’m happy you felt inspired by my post. I’m certainly inspired by yours now. Sending hugs, dear.

What a brilliant post! Such a great thing to remind ourselves to keep grounded and realise that even in our worst times we can be grateful for things and how much worse it could be! I’m inspired to do one of these! xxxx
