October 2017: Wrap-Up and Favourites

Essie: Angora Cardi
Angora Cardi is my favourite autumnal nail polish shade since I first bought it about a year ago. It’s a plum / deep dusty rose colour that and lasts up to a whole week if you apply base coat, two coats of nail polish and top coat. I also think that it was the most-pinned nail polish on Pinterest in 2016, if I remember correctly.

L’Oréal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim, Intense Black
As a person with overall dry skin but really oily and slightly hooded eyelids, I was quite happy to have found this eyeliner. It is easy to apply and doesn’t smudge easily. Although it is not as pigmented as I’d like and I sometimes had to reapply it during the day, I would definitely recommend this one if you want an eyeliner that doesn’t transfer to your upper eyelid.

Stranger Things Season 2
I’ve been waiting for season 2 of Stranger Things since I binge-watched the first season about half a year ago. I loved the creepy story, the 80s soundtrack and the lovable characters. On October 27, the second season aired on Netflix and of course Julius and had to watch all nine episodes in two days.

Did it meet my high expectations? Almost! New characters were introduced and the story was compelling and creepy. However, I have to say that I’m a tiny bit disappointed that they didn’t add more lore about “the upside down” to the second season. Well, let’s hope for a third season!

If you’re following me on Instagram or Twitter, you might have noticed the little ink sketches I’ve been doing. In late September, I decided to join Inktober this year! It’s a challenge created by the illustrator Jake Parker in which thousands of artists from all over the world participate every year. I’m not an artist, but I love doodling and thought that it would be fun to take on the challenge.

The rules are quite simple: Make a drawing in ink every day in October and post it online using the hashtag #inktober and the daily hashtag from the official Inktober prompts list. Although it took a lot of discipline to sit down every day and draw something that somehow corresponded to the daily hashtag, I’m so happy that I managed to complete it and I really did learn a lot about drawing this month. October is Halloween month, my second favourite holiday! Although Halloween is not as widely celebrated in Germany as it is in other parts of the world, I try to make the most of it every year. As October 31 fell on a Tuesday this year, Julius and I had a cosy “Halloween for 2” party at home, complete with pumpkin carving, a spooky dinner and a scary film in the evening.

Food & Drinks

I know this brand might not be available outside Germany, but I just had to include Teekanne’s “Hüttenzauber” (English: “cabin magic”) tea here. It’s a spicy and fruity blend that smells deliciously of oranges and cinnamon. Although it’s a fruit tea, it has a mild taste and is not as sour and intense as other fruity teas I know. Perfect for cosy autumn days!

See you soon! 🙂

I loved Stranger Things as well! I loved it probably as much as the first season, but I agree with you that I’d like to know more about the Upside Down. I loved learning more about Eleven’s backstory though 🙂

Oh yes and the relationship between Hopper and Eleven is so touching! Maybe I didn’t choose the right words, I really loved this season. More information about the Upside Down just would have been the icing on the cake 🙂

I will have to try that eyeliner! I already love L’Oreal, but I always have issues with my eyeliner smudging due to oily eyelids as well as it transferring to my upper eyelids thanks to my hooded eyes. This sounds perfect!!
